The New England Patriots equaled their top unbeaten stretch since the Tom Brady era as they overcame division rivals the New York Jets 27-14 in professional football

First-year standout Henderson was the standout with three scores as the Patriots secured an eighth consecutive victory for the initial occasion since star signal-caller Brady's closing campaign with the team in the 2019 season

Signal-caller Maye threw for 281 yards and a TD, completing 25 passes from 34 throws

The win bolsters the Patriots lead at the top of the AFC East as they moved to nine wins and two defeats, with the New York at the foot after dropping to two victories and eight defeats

The Jets had scored first at Foxborough with QB Justin Fields running in a five-yard TD to cap the Jets' opening drive

But the New England responded in the second quarter as Henderson scored two seven-yard TDs before the running back hauled in a throw from Maye at the back of the end zone midway through the third period to extend the lead to 21 to 7

"That was a big time for him delivering, and it's been excellent for him to keep earning playing time," the quarterback commented on Henderson. "He aims to be outstanding."

Justin Fields found John Metchie late in the third quarter to close the gap for the Jets but Andy Borregales kicked a pair of field goals in the final period as the home side closed out the victory
